Validate documents

There are currently two methods available to validate authentic digital copies of notarial deeds, apart from manually checking the signatures:

  • Validation by the cantonal notary register:
You can execute this type of validation with the form below.
  • Validation by the validator service of the federal administration:
You can execute this type of validation on this site: https://validator.ch.
(Please choose the document type "Electronic public deeds and electronic certificates" in order to check conformance with the EPAO.)

Validation by the cantonal notary register

Validation contents:
The validation by the cantonal notary register checks a PDF document and verifies that

  • it was signed with a valid certificate
  • it is in an admissible format
  • the signature covers the whole document
  • the signature is intact and valid
  • the signature field is visible
  • the signature is that of a notary registered in the cantonal register
  • the signature contains a valid timestamp from a recognized time stamping service, issued after the admission of the notary
  • Furthermore it checks whether the document contains a valid electronic cantonal seal.
